Why I decided on my new book

So I recently finished my book and I had to find a new one. I figured I'd end up choosing a book a lot like the ones I usually read which are sad stories and mainly realistic fiction. This time, however, I wanted to try something new becuase I was getting a little bored. I was thinking about genres I'd like and decided on supernatural/action. I looked it up on Goodreads and a lot of books similar to Twilight popped up. I knew I wasn't going to like that so I kept scrollling. Then I saw I Am Number Four. I remembered seeing the movie a few years back but the details were fuzzy in my head. I read the description and remembered that I loved the movie. So, I decided I'd read the book.
I'm really hoping I like this book because it's different than what I know I enjoy. If it ends up staying true to the movie, I'm sure I'm going to like it.

Book Review

So I just finished the book 13 Reasons Why and I have nothing but god things to say about it. It was one of those books that you can’t put down. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen in the next chapter so I just kept turning pages. Because of this, I’m rating it 5 stars.

It’s a sad story but it also is extremely eye opening. It made me think about how my actions affect others. It’s extremely well written and seems like a true story. You get to know Hannah inside and out and feel the same emotions she does. It’s fascinating how that works. I really connected with her and what happened to her.

I also loved how the story was set up. The main character, Hannah, committed suicide and left behind 13 reasons on 13 tapes. The tapes were sent to 13 people and the story goes through the tapes when a boy named Clay Jensen has them. It covers his emotional rides as he finds out why the girl he loved took her life and what part he to in all of it.

Overall I would really recommend this book for anybody. Even if you’re not really into sad stories, I think you should really read this. It taught me a huge life lesson in a way I didn’t expect it to. Plus it’s definitely a page turner.

Why I picked 13 Reasons Why

Im currently reading 13 Reasons Why. I picked this book for many reasons. First off I love books that kind of have a mystery/ dark genre. Books like this really intrigue me and I always have a hard time putting them down. I also picked this because my sister read it and had nothing but good things to say about it. I figured it'd be a good choice. I made sure it'd be a book i was interested in because i only like reading when it's a really good book. Otherwise i usually only read when I have to & I never enjoy it. I'm about 50 pages in and so far I'm really liking it.

13 Reasons Why is about a girl who committed suicide and left behind 13 tapes explaining why she did it. The tapes include the names of 13 people who contributed to her death. Her demand is that all 13 people recieve the tapes as they are passed around. Im currently on the part where the first person to recieve the tapes is listening to them. He gets very emotional and is currently developing a strong character because of how he is reacting. A question I have is what would you think if you recieved the tapes? How would you react?

Water for Elephants theme

The theme in Water fo Elephants is admiration can be dangerous. The theme first became present when the owner of the circus, Uncle Al, goes out of his way to get an elephant from an abandoned circus to compete with the Ring Ling Brothers. Over the course of the story, he continues to take drastic measures to get what he thinks will make him the best. Also, the main character Jacob, falls in love with Marlena who is married to August. Jacob tries to grow a relationship with Marlena which proves to be very risky. August catches on and Jacob gets into a lot of trouble. These two situations together prove that admiration can be dangerous because both events involve someone competing to be better than someone and getting jealous of what another person has and they both end up with someone getting hurt.
